Being ‘Gas Safe Registered’ means that the person and company in question is legally able to work safely on gas appliances (this includes gas boilers, gas cookers, gas fires, gas meters and gas pipework) within the UK.
It is illegal for someone to carry out gas work without being Gas Safe Registered.
The Gas Safe Registration body maintains the Gas Safe register, they were previously known as CORGI until 2009.

It is not as simple as being on the register equalling the ability to work on any and all gas appliances within the UK. Gas engineers and companies working with gas appliances must complete various qualifications and certifications for the various types of gas appliances in both domestic and commercial settings.
